Subject: [DW8000] New member with comments and questions...

Hello,
I have been searching the internet for information about the DW8000.
I found a link to this group and thought that I would join in.

Of course, I own a Korg DW8000!
I absolutely love the old synth! I bought it used from a friend about 15 years ago.
After a few years of occasional use, the battery died and I put the DW8000 into storage.

A few years ago, I brought it out of storage, took it apart and replaced the battery myself.
I discovered, to my dismay, that the synth had no preset programs, and therefore, almost no sounds (except for a strange squeemish cry)!
I managed to tweak a few sounds out of it but got discouraged and put it back in storage.

Recently, I discovered a few websites with programs and a few tips on programing. So, I dug the old synth back out again and managed to reload the original factory presets.
So far so good, right?

Well, my DW8000 had developed the odd dropout glitch!
In poly mode, every 5th and 8th note played suffers the dropout!
In unison mode, the dropout is unnoticed!
I have read that this problem is not unusual on some of the synths. Especially on some of the earlier synths, due to a faulty chip.

Are there replacement chips still available for this problem?

Any helpful hints or comments will be welcome.

Sincerely,
Crowley
