This message is for anyone who is curious about the Angel City /
Musitronics "DW Turbo" expansion.
It adds some significant functionality to the synthesizer-
1. The ability to program layers / splits with two patches. The mix
between the two patches can be altered, as can their transposition,
relative detuning, and split point.
2. The upgrade also allows for sending and receiving data on two midi
channels (as per the split).
3. The upgrade also expands the synth's memory to 8 (!!) internal
banks.
4. A feature has been included to allow for a quick comparison
between an edited patch's sound and its original sound.
5. Lastly, the Turbo board also adds a new modulation waveform. A
white noise S/H (random) waveform which sounds especially neat when
controlling the filter cutoff. . Very, very cool.
Years ago I uploaded the owner's manual to this group's "files"
section. Here's a direct link to the scanned document in .ZIP format-

I've also uploaded a JPG image which shows the added DWTurbo
parameters-

I bought the board from a German company called "Musitronics" perhaps
three or four years ago. . and it appears that the board is still
available. I payed $75 for it then.
Here is their product page-

My only uncertainty about this upgrade was with the additional patch
banks. You obviously don't have to use this feature, but if you do-
be sure to read the instructions on saving and accessing the banks. I
once lost two banks of sounds in my haste. .
The board, by the way, was very easy to install. Be sure to handle
the original board with care and keep it in an electrostatic bag, in
case you ever decide to revert to it, sell the synth, etc..
In response to some emails, I'd like to mention that I do plan on (re)
building my DW8000 information page. It should be up on katreil.com
sometime in the next month..

By the way, does anyone know what other synths use the same keys as
the Minikorg 700s (K2) ?
