D'oh!
Sure enough, I jumbled my words a bit. I acquired a DW-8000 AND a
Poly-800 at the same time; the corroded C cells were found in the
back of the Poly-800, not the DW-8000.
My DW-8000 has no compartment for C or D cells. The battery I
replaced (or attempted to) was the 3V CR2032 that was soldered onto
the one of boards inside.
Anyone know where WAV versions of the tape backups are? I'm still not
having any success w/ the SYSEX, and I haven't got around to checking
to see if the key contacts are corroded.
