Hey there!
For $200, with Turbo, I'd suggest that you go for it.
I previously owned two DW-8000s (one that i left at a rehearsal space
and another that stayed in the studio..), and I even bought a couple
more (on ebay) as presents for two of my friends..
Needless to reiterate- I think they're great.
My main obsession is the fact that (once you get to be familiar with
it) it is a breeze to program. . very intuitive and although there're
only 16 waveforms, you can get results that sound nothing like the
expected combinations of those. The delay section sounds great and
adds a real warmth to the synth. I use the 8000 primarily for ambient
and string-type pads, and i have also recorded/performed quite a few
basslines and melodic lines with it.
Don't be put off be the presets or whatever sounds are in it. . I've
never been completely fond of the sounds that i have found for it
(even with the thousands available online). . but with tweaking and
patience, it will make those huge, spacey, or quirky sounds that
you've been looking for.
(i'm sorry for going on.. )
