what regulators have you fitted as i have never hear of a 11v reg

5 volts 8 volts 12volts 15 volts 18 volts 24 volt regs

as regulators need 3 volts minimum extra for good regulation what are the dc voltages before the power regs that your getting

also what reg is the 15..35 volts coming from as if its a adjustable voltage regulator there should be a trimmer to adjust to 11v as the adjustable types are variable regulation

so check if its a adjustable type and if it is you need to set the trimmer for the 11v regulation

Subject: [DW8000] Voltages in DW/EX8000 PSU and other MIDI problems.

Hello, Im fixing up both of these, and as a first test I ran across missing bad 5v voltages on both, changed the regulators, and theyre now fine, but both machines also have almost +16V (15.30-50) instead of 11V when all regulators are changed.

So both are somewhat working, but with symptoms like only triggering on note off, and not recevining dumps properly.
As far as I can see the only chip using +11v are the led drivers and the components in the led path?

The chips I can see tolarates up to 16v, but it doesnt seem right.

MIDI does not work propely on either as mentioned, on the EX I get no input, on the DW it reproduces just one note basically, although in different footings at odd times.
On midi the DW triggers on note on, from keyboard, note off.
Although it looks like DW receives dumps, the data is not really saved, it just scrolls through but nothing enters unless I program myself.
When using arpeggio I get different filter reactions like key tracking, but the same bad note behaviour like its just one note in each octave though not even that precise.

I can save programs and load on both, but as the midi input on it wont work, I cannot test if I have sound on the EX.
Im not quite sure if the sound on the DW is off on more than the notes, its hard to hear the cycles correctly since its mostly droning.
It does sound good in some ways :)

So working: All Menu functions
Not working: Basic playing and note triggering, MIDI.

Measured symptoms so far, +15.6V on +11V line.

I dont really want to move beyond the PSU until I know its not a problem anymore so tips on the 11V line first if you have any, although Ill note down any other tips, and if it seems familiar, please give a shout.
