Subject: SV: [ComputerVoltageSources] SMT closeup photo

I´m going to do a report and upload some pics during the weekend. Certain
problems with sourcing components have been experienced.

I put a closeup photo of the SMT soldering (SMT.jpg) in the Files >
Hardware > CVS Module folder. This is on my original non-solder
masked PCB.

Compare the pitch of the soldering with that of the diodes in the left
and the 0.100" x 0.150" spaced OUT pads on the right. This gives you
a good idea of the relative size of these pads. They're small, but
not too difficult, to solder. The spacing between pads is just about
the same as between the OUT and Ground pads.

I soldered this part with my Weller TC201 and a #8 fine tip using head
magnifiers. I used 0.015" diameter water-wash solder (Sn63Pb37, same
as MOTM) which matches the pad size pretty good. What you see is my
first pass soldering; there were no bridges. It's reasonably straight
forward to do. The parts are large and easy to hold to align soldering
the corners.

I wouldn't shy away from giving this a try if you have a fine tip
soldering iron.

Dave
