Thank you John for that clarification. I've been saying it all along.
The intent was that this be a group effort and the resulting design
public. I intend to meet that intent and everything is public except
the PCB design. I would like to publicly thank John Loffink for his
design of the LCD_Support PCB and also thank Grant Richter for his
initial design and Harry Bissell for some early consolidation and
consultation. I just took what they started and made it work.
However, for this project to move forward, others need to help and I
am glad to see this happening. I've got limited availability for
anything further on this project.
I am holding that back on making the board design files public for a
couple of reasons:
So far I am the only one who has built one. I still contend that this
is not a beginner's PCB, especially with the SMT. Someone with good
skills can build the board. I want others to build a few of the
'extra' boards I had to verify buildability.
I'm sure there are errors in the parts list and possibly schematic. I
think it would be wise to get a few more of these running to minimize
the number of issues.
Lastly, the TI DACs are still on allocation. You can't buy them yet.
They've been on allocation since the fall so you are just going to
have to wait anyway. I have built one with a Analog Devices DAC and
would like others to verify this as a viable substitute. However,
this DAC is not yet available in distribution so you're still going to
have to wait.
