Subject: LCD Support PCB Rev. X00 and Programmed Chip available

From: "John Loffink" <jloffink@...>
Date: 2007-02-11

I have a limited number of LCD Support PC Boards Rev. X00 and programmed
Atmel ATTINY2313 chips with code by David Brown available. Some photos and
an Excel spreadsheet bill of materials are posted in the Yahoo groups photo
and file sections. Dave has some videos at his web site. After these are
gone I do not plan on making any more.

MAKE SURE YOU RELOAD THE PARTS LIST FROM THE WEB SITE. THE PART NUMBER
FOR THE LCD HAS CHANGED. We found a Seiko LCD from Mouser that exactly
matches the stacking footprint of this PCB. Don't use the apparently
identical Lumex 16x2 LCD as it reverses power and ground connections and
WILL fry your LCD.

The LCD Support PCB adds support for a 16x2 LCD display for the PSIM or CVS.

Characters are written by sending MIDI data to the device. It also has a
MIDI in/out subcircuit for adding MIDI to a PSIM. Finally, it can be
configured to operate as a standalone MIDI monitor. PCB by John Loffink,
AVR code by Dave Brown. The LCD and LCD support PCB mount directly
to a front panel using 2/56" standoffs and screws.

The board can run off +15 V or + 5 V power. Using +15 V requires a heatsink
for the 7805 5 V regulator, as shown. It has a 4/6 pin MOTM/Blacet
compatible power connector.

Cost is $15 for the PC board Rev. X00, programmed Atmel ATTINY2313,
four ΒΌ inch #2/56 screws for mounting the LCD inconspicuously to a black
faceplate, and four #2 washers. Shipping is extra for orders outside of the
US and Canada. Additional parts for these boards from Mouser cost about $42

for the LCD function including LCD and $3 for the MIDI function using
inexpensive MIDI connectors.
