Glad to see you got connected to the list!
First of all I'd like to point out that your XGedit/CW9/SW1K configuration
is actually over complicated. The setup you are using is only required for
Cakewalk versions below 8.03 (as they did not thru sysex correctly). For CW9
you can dispense with the Hwmdcable.exe programs and just use
XGedit:
In=NONE
OutA=LB1
OutB=LB2
CW9:
In=LB1, LB2, SW100 MIDI IN
Out-SW1000#1, SW1000#2, SW1000 MIDI OUT
In this case all data will be Thru'd via Cakewalk (so make sure you have
enabled MIDI thru and the Echo System Exclusive functions under the CW
global options).
To add An1xEdit for control of the PLG150AN to this setup. First ensure
An1xEdit is operating in PLG150AN mode (place a check in the Setup menu next
to PLG150AN), then simply set
AN1xEdit:
In=NONE
Out=LB1
Again the An1xEdit data will be thu'd via CW9.
[Users of Cubase VST should be aware that a similar setup will not
work....since VST is incapable of thruing sysex data larger than 512 bytes
according to my tests. Hence the big AN sysex messages do not make it!! In
this situation VST users should use the multiclient nature of the SW1K
drivers and just set:
AN1xEdit:
In=NONE
Out= SW1000#1
Note however that this means AN data will not be going via VST...hence
cannot be recorded in realtime.]
When working with the AN board on a host such as SW1K it is important to
ensure data edits are transmitted in the correct order. In particular, the
PLG150AN replaces one of the hosts XG parts. Therefore if you refresh your
setup from XGedit, you may find that the AN board no longer sounds (i.e. the
host reverts back to the native XG part). Hence you should follow any XG
refresh by a refresh synth from the AN1xEdit Utils menu. This will ensure
the AN board is correctly reconfigured.
A similar situation also exists if you decide to embed configuration data in
your final MIDI file/song. i.e. always place the XG setup data first,
followed by the AN setup data.
