Okay, a couple more tidbits...

I installed the USB and OMS drivers for my Emagic MT4 under Classic (and did a restart)
then configured a new Studio Setup Doc. AN1xEdit worked fine with the MT4 just as it did
with the MIDISport 1x1. I found the MT4 more reliable than the MIDISport 1x1, but
considering the price difference and my past experience with both vendors and I'm not
surprised. If your funds are tight, go for the MIDISport 1x1 (it's only $40) - the MT4 is
starting to show up on blowout on some websites but it's still more expensive then the
1x1.

I ran a couple of tests.

First, I transfered voices from the AN1x to AN1xEdi as such: 8 voices individual voices,
then 8 at once, then 16, the 32, then 64. Second, I performed a bulk dump of all 128
voices. In both tests AN1xEdit did not crash under Classic, but after the first 12-16 voices
the 'Retry' prompt occurs with some frequency. Just keep hitting the 'Retry' prompt and the
dump will progress to the next voice after the current dump completes.

I also launced ReBirth under Classic and was able to 'teach' ReBirth the MIDI CC's
transmitted from the AN1x Assign Knobs for the various parameters. There may very well
be a way to route audio via ReWire from Classic to OS X, but darned if I know what how to
make that work ;-)

A few tips:

First, you can't disable AppleTalk under Classic - you have to disable it from System
Preferences > Network under OS X. If you don't run an AppleTalk network then you would
have had no reason to enable this to begin with - I've been networking my old Mac with
the new one so this is a minor inconvienance.

Second, under System Prefernces > Classic you might find it helpful to enable 'Show
Classic status in menu bar' - this will allow you to use a shortcut from the menu bar in OS
X to Start, Stop or Restart Classic AND it will display the 'Apple Menu Items' for Classic
(very handy!)

Third, you don't HAVE to use AN1xEdit as a Librarian, you can use SysEx Librarian

http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/

native under OS X.

You know, I'd been considering parting out my old 'BeigeG4' and selling it off on eBay and
now this news makes that decision all the more likely!

Jon
