The AN1X has so many way to destroy a sound it can be daunting. A
simple thing like turning down the sync frequency can make all the
difference between an unusable patch and a real cool sound. When I
have a patch that should work but sounds awful I check the following:

First check the osc tuning. If one osc is tuned to 0 and one to 11
your patch will sound awful.Sometimes you get it set right but it
jumps down when you take your hand of the knob

Check to see if the ring mod is on.

Check sync pitch and fm-I usually set my patches so the fm only
affects the slave wave but I'm not positive that's what you're
supposed to do.

Check to see what you did with the free eg the night before-what were
you thinking? Change it right now.

There's so many modulation routings and cool toys it's easy to go
overboard-way overboard.
