First of all let me say i've read almost everything in the list.
Even the personal exchanges. I see much wisdom (and some fizdom ;-)
here. As for me I'm an ex drummer turned guitar player/sound whore
(anything i could get my hands on and mangle to beatiful chaotic
perfection). 7 years ago i bought a $2.99 brian eno tape(music for
films)and it changed my life. Since then I've emulated synths every
way possible without actualy having one. mostly thru alot of cheap
effects and homemade sampler setups.
I've tried to compose with an old vic 20 but it wasn't mentaly
healthy as one measure looked like 152638765844765 183048374657547
112536748563545 1152367548565222REM. And it strated to mess with my
dreams and such. All i saw was code(lots of funny and not so funny
waking moments).
So here i am at two ends of a scale. digital complexity vs.
impulsive human emotion. Wow i'm going deep with this. Anyway I know
I'll be disapionted with anything less than gods own DNA synth but
for a mad scientist like myself is an1x recomended. Price is the main
factor. sound quality and manipulation second unfortuantly. Analog
purity is not so important.
I have no real means (excpept mp3s,yuck!) to test out anything
personaly so i'm realy counting on your ears and hands. oh and i have
built myself and all around daw, delta 1010 ,vegas , fruity, plugs,
softsynths, ect... but no controller. I have logic, sonar and cubase
but no working understanding of midi so lean twords .wav sequencing
in vegas. Please give me some dirtection. DISCLAIMER: i feel like a
short scifi writer sometimes sorry!
