I found some info in the An1XEdit "Help file" which explains why users may find problems with System Exclusive Dumping..

Maybe this is the problem you are experiencing also?

Here's the page: -

System Edit Module

This module allows access to the current Library Synth System Setup parameters and special auditioning control functions (i.e. on screen keyboard and controller wheels).

The DEVICE dial is used to select the device number for transmission of all AN1xEdit Sysex parameter change and bulk dump messages. By default the AN1x and host devices are configured to receive on all Sysex device numbers. However if several devices are being used in a single MIDI setup, the user can configure each synth (and program library) to use a different device number.

AN1x Specific:
It should be noted that the DEVICE dial allows the selection of a value of OFF when operating in AN1x mode. This effectively disables the AN1x from receiving any further edits (including any messages to turn reception back on!!!!). Hence care should be taken when adjusting this dial. Incorrect use will require that you reset the device number from the AN1x synth front panel.

The RX1 dial is used to select the primary receive MIDI channel of the AN1x synth. The value set in this dial also determines the channel used by AN1xEdit to send all channel based MIDI messages (i.e. Note On/Off from the Keyboard and Controller messages from the Wheels)

The AN1x synth can be configured to operate in two modes for Continuous Controller transmission and reception (configuration is by means of holding down the ASSIGN button during power on). In mode 1 the synth responds only to General MIDI defined controller numbers, whilst in mode 2 an enhanced set of controller numbers are available.

Unfortunately there is no way to remotely determine or set the current synth operating mode in this respect. Consequently AN1xEdit has no way of knowing the current configuration. Hence for completeness, AN1xEdit always shows all available controllers in its controller related Menu dials. However the controller numbers are colour coded to indicate the mode they apply to:-

Controllers shown in BLACK are only available in Mode 2 - AN1x specific mode.
Controllers shown in BLUE are available in both Mode 2 and Mode 1 - General MIDI mode
PLG150AN Specific:

The system area provides parameters for configuring the host device to allow editing and morphing of AN parameters.
Part - allows an XG part to be designated for PLG150AN usage.
CH - designates the MIDI receive channel assigned to the XG part.
Board - should be assigned to the PLG150AN board number in multi PLG board systems.

MORPH - allows the morphing feature to be enabled or disabled. The target morph program is defined used MSB, LSB and PROG dials.
