Oh, hello, Andrea! Still driving the Ducati, I see. Hope all's been well with
you... wasn't expecting to meet many old friends on this list. It's been a
very pleasant surprise.

None of them. Vectory died young, Xpansions has been replaced with matrixSynth
on Yahoo Groups, and SYNTH-L and EMUSIC-L had their plugs pulled and few
people seem to care. There's still a website at emusic-l.com that is updated
and now has a blog, but the Beyond_EM and Gearhead lists seem to have taken up
the slack handily.

> don't tell me u gave up the k5000 for the AN1X ? :-)

Of course not. I'm not allowed to sell my K5000, even if I wanted to, which I
don't. It's my main live board. I used it for the live Team Metlay album
that's coming out this summer, and it'll be my main board for the Different
Skies concert this September (details at http://www.differentskies.com).

Andrea, paisan, you and I have known each other for almost fifteen years,
haven't we? You should KNOW better than to ask me a question like that. The
K2500RS and the Xpander are as similar as chalk and cheese; they cannot be
compared directly to one another by almost any form of measurement. Your
question may be keeping you up at night, but it's almost meaningless!

∗I∗ wouldn't trade ANYTHING to get another Xpander, because no two Xpanders
sound alike to my ears, and I like MINE. If my Xpander dies some day, I will
NOT replace it... I wouldn't have the heart to do so. The Xpander does things
completely differently than the K2500RS; it has different sounds, different
capabilities, and different strengths. You need to look at your music and
decide for yourself which one you need more.

Or compare selling prices on ebay and decide which one's worth more, I suppose.

Ciao,

mike

As a generalisation, the technology has NOTHING to do with the music.
For each specific artist, it has EVERYTHING to do with the music. (cassiel)
