What about the state when the synth is "Off" but connected to power... ?

> FWIW, backup batteries are typically good for about 5-8 years, depending
on playing frequency (the less the synth is powered on, the more the battery
is drained), the storage temperature, and other factors. If the AN1x is
five or more years old -- and it probably is -- then replacing the battery
is not unexpected. I do think that the dealer should have let you know that
this was the case, but I don't think it's worth cancelling the sale or
anything. Almost any AN1x purchased today could be a candidate for battery
replacement within a few months.
