Subject: Re: [AN1x] distortion problems

A comment and a question....

If you find that the setting on the volume knob is correlated to the
distortion (less distortion when you twist the knob to the left) ...
it may be that the output amp is giving out. I observed that part of
the timbral difference between the AN200 and AN1X was that the AN1X
overloaded the output amp to yield a smokier warmer sound at high
volume levels. This is correlated to feedback and VCA volume setting
to the degree that these settings raise the overall volume and thus
the overloading of the output amp. I surmise that a regularly
overloaded amp will give out at some point.

Whats the price of the fix? What's the process? I have been limping
along, saving my morph patches with a single active scene and then
engaging both scenes during performance to avoid the digital crud
that happens when you boot up the synth with both scenes in memory.

Maybe it's time to get it fixed.

Thanks,
