I've had the thing of the right audio channel going as well. For me, a
full factory reset worked (and got rid of all my patches, that wouldn't
upload to my computer anymore). Mine didn't reboot, though, but it did do
the crackling. Turning it off and on a few times did the trick, until
things got too bad and I had to do the factory reset. So it could be that
the symptoms you describe are two different problems, although I can't
tell for sure.
