like before.
Hey Bruce - what is "Win98 compatability mode"? I don't have XP and am
considering it, but I'm using an excellent digital audio interface (Gadget
Labs 8/24) which is obsolete because the company went out of business. The
drivers for 98 work great, but there's a lot of doubt about them working
under XP. How do you invoke this "compatibility" mode?

the Midiman. (I have always been able to use the Midiman for patch dumps to
Cakewalk, though.)

> Yeah, actually you're right. I was having problems and did a complete
(and painful) clean install under Win2K recently. I didn't test Cakewalk
extensively, but it did boot. No other software was changed after that, but
CW stopped working. What I've come to find is that after the drivers are
installed, CW will accept them for 3-4x, then stop working. It doesn't
matter whether I use the latest drivers, or one step back; same issues. The
sad part is that doing a clean install is supposed to fix things! I have no
way to return to the "dirty" system -- which worked just fine with CW and
the Midiman -- except by accident. :^(
