I can understand and appreciate the idea of downsizing - I've
done it mysef - but I would suggest either the Kenton Plugstation
http://www.kenton.co.uk/productspecs/plugstation.html or a 2nd
hand Yamaha MU series rack mount module as an alternative to
the AN200. Depending on which model you purshcase, the rack
mount solutions allow for multiple PLG∗ cards to be installed
simultaneously. This would allow you to further expand your
sound pallette with additional cards as time and money permit.

I honestly don't remember the answer to this question but, it has
been discussed before so please search the archive if no one
else chimes in on this topic. I do know Yamaha offered a
seperate Mac application for the AN desktop unit that was not
AN1xEdit. Be aware none fo these apps is going to be OS X
compatible.

Half the Polyphony and only a single Scene per Voice on the AN
desktop unit would deter me from switching. I wouldn't be willing
to part with half an AN1x for the space savings - and the Rhythm
section of the AN200 doesn't do much to impress me sound
wise.

one reverb.

Don't think so but I could be mistaken. Check the Yamaha site
for spec's.

You mean directly from one unit to the other? Good question -
don't know the answer.

There has been a great deal of discussion on the list regarding
the PLG boards as well as the AN200. You really should spend
the time reviewing the archive for these topics. My second
concern aside from the polyphony issue would be the work
environment. A common confusion amongst PLG users is the
limitations of the edit buffers and SysEx transfers. I've not used
either hands on but my impression from the many comments on
thist list are the PLG and AN appear to be trifle frustrating to work
with.
