To those (Reggie especially) who have taken the time to help, thank you.
To people that complained about the size, an excuse you can take or leave but is honest....the thing is, I am extremely frustrated trying to get this to work. I work with programming and have to troubleshoot a lot of different equipment....it is kind of a habit to let the whole history stay in the message, because if more than one person is involved they can simply page down and see what has been tried right from the start and what conclusions have been reached and what were dead ends.
This saves getting a lot of "did you try ..." when it was already tried. At this point, and especially in this group that can go weeks with maybe 10 messages, I didn't see the problem. I am looking for any help I can get and the most recent exchange was always at the top of the message. I figured, calculated, that it wouldn't be all that much bother for folks not interested to simply delete. If you ever go out on the net you get many times the size of our exchange literally daily in the form of spam.
So I didn't see the problem. But I know that you all may have different views on things.
But when one person asks us to snip our replies and another does it within hours....I felt like replying. I know that there was an uncut message even AFTER (heaven forbid!) but anyone that has been on lists for any length of time knows most of us reply when we see a message and not AFTER reading ALL messages.
For that reason if you make a request to a list, you ought to wait until everyone has a chance to see it, before making the same complaint that already has been made.
Again...I am getting some great help from a few people, and complaints from two other. The volume of this is such that I cannot understand how it is a problem unless someone is STILL sitting on a slow modem...and I doubt that.
Sorry if I am reacting, but I expected a little slack....trying to fix a problem and there actually may be other people that might get help by this too...
