Yeah the AN1X is pretty good at those hard cutting/pulsing bass sounds, one
of the great things about the AN is oscillator sync which helps create those
'motorboat' effects, and theres OK distortion effects, all you need is
ideas, programming skills (which I'm still working on) & a decent compressor
to get those sounds really pumping. Cant think of any D&B producers of hand
that use it, but in 2Step I know Wookie uses his a lot.
Theirs even a set of preprogrammed D&B patches out on the web somewhere, but
as well as basses it can make lush pads, lead lines, dodgy 80's brass sounds
plus loads more besides. It dosent have the warmest of sounds, but the
current second hand price is pretty good, and is also available as a module/
expansion card if need be.
If your just getting into D&B production, you may want to consider a sampler
first?
