Look, although Rich's tone is a bit harsh, I think he may have been
responding to the original poster's comment about how it was "not easy to
fit the AN1x into the mix", which I found to be a bit weird. Um, this
sounds like one of those problems with using the wrong tool for the job...
and since when did All Along the Watchtower have flying saucers in it? ;-\
About the VCA feedback - I agree that this board rocks, but Ray's analysis
might be right - that is that the output stage can eaisly be overloaded. I
think the manual even states that, so it offically becomes a "feature". Ha,
so now you're back to some of the strangeness of true analog again, like
having to memorize where to set the volume knob for some patches. I've got
to do exactly that memorization with my Roland MKS-50 (rack Alpha Juno),
which although it's a hybrid analog/digital and has presets... there are
some timbres that sound great at a certain digital setting (envelope
strength, filter resonance) which overloads the finals and gives ugly
clipping or way too much loudness. When I back down on the digital
parameters to compensate, the patch loses its character ----- therefore, I
have to memorize the volume knob setting and back it off as much as
necessary to fit the mix.
Anyone else found this true?
