It was really seriously messed up. It was long past the "maybe powering it
off and on again would help" stage. I never found out what the problem was.

My AN1x also has (or had? don't have the time for it lately) the tendency to
'lose' the right channel into crackles after it's been turned on for quite a
while. Powering off and on a few times seemed to help.

I know, but I'm too lazy for that, even with the stuff I program at work.
