Subject: BUG Confirmed in VST 5

From: Reggie <reggie@...>

Hello all, Sorry for the cross post, but There is a bug with certain
popup windows that may or may not affect you, so please read on even if
you are not using my scripts.

A user reported to me a bug in My SW1000XG patchname script, where after
an unspecified amount of time/instrument changes, the displayed
instrument would 'lock' and would refuse to change instruments after
that, this would also lock other parts of VST with the with the ONLY
remedy being to restart VST.

I investigated this and found that a problem did indeed exist, So I
checked using a JV-1080 patchname script and the problem also occurred
there as well, which was good 'cos it meant that it wasn't a bug in my
scripts. :)

I reported the bug to steinberg and got a reply the next day, I
explained the bug and they confirmed that there was one, But not with
the patchname scripts themselves, but with a type of popup window that
is used in other parts of VST as well, So if you are experiencing any
type of 'lock out' from a part of VST then this may be the cause.

I have been told that the bug will be fixed in the next update which
will be in a week or so.

Here is a small quote from one of the emails I received.

-----------------------------------------
'It is a bug in a certain kind of popup menus. If the bug happens, you
won't even be able to select the bus of a channel in the vstmixer
('cause it's using the same popups)

VST-Windows, Trackmixer and Patchnames use this popup menu-
implementation.
------------------------------------------
See ya,

Reggie
