As a new user...maybe I don't understand completely, but I think it doesn't sound that out of line. The question (and I am not clear on this) is ...does the unit work as advertised with the
old version? If the upgrade is giving new functionality then I can see it...if it is fixing the popping (which seems plain wrong) or other things that are advertised or mentioned in the
manual that don't work right...then I think you are right...it gives them a slight on their reputation.
I can see the idea that 1) the Prom costs money, physically, and 2) they can take the stand that when you buy used it is buyer beware, but that is short term thinking.
companies that go the extra will always get me back as a customer...the other kind, well it is on a case by case basis when I am looking for equipment next time. the ones that really treat their customers badly...I won't even consider. I won't be buying anymore Digitech stuff for example no matter how good a model of something they come out with.
