The AN1x can be bi-timbral (meaning, that you have two different voices with
a maximum polyphony of five each) if you put it in 'Split' or 'Dual' mode.
Now, if you select scene 1, you can set the MIDI receive channel using the
control matrix (the knob and the lots of buttons on the right hand side). If
you select scene 2, you can do the same for the other voice. Select a MIDI
channel that is different than the one for scene 1. Use these two channels
on your RM1x.

As for the step sequencer, it's best to read the manual and try the hands-on
approach. There are quite some features here, and it's been ages ago since I
last used it.
