Congratulations!!! What a Christmas! Are you going to keep it, or sell it and
buy a whole bunch of synths and create a retirement account? :-)

They are supposed to closely match the Q sound. You can even load Q sounds into
the Micro Q. A small conversion is done to weed out the non-supported
parameters.
There are some differences. No step sequencer, digital out, or cross modulation
on the Micro Q. The Micro Q is capable of more voices (25) than the regular Q
(16). Waldorf has changed the architecture a bit so that the Micro Q uses the
DSP power more intelligently. Instead of holding the same amount of power aside
for each voice it dynamically allocates the resources so that the more complex
the voice (# oscillators, # effects, etc.) the more DSP power is used.
I have been really trying to decide between the Micro Q and the Q rack, but
have finally decided on the Mico Q. In the future the Micro Q will be
upgradeable to a max of 75 voices.
I have just ordered a Virus b also. :-)
