No, this is a glitch but it can be fixed (I had the same problem.)

I never had a problem transmitting to the AN1x - only receiving in
AN1xEdit. What OS ROM is your AN1x running (not that I can do anything
about it - just curious!)

Try the following:

From the AN1xEdit Setup menu select 'MIDI Port Set-up...'; from the
'MIDI Out' drop down menu select the next available device in the list -
these are the devices defined in your current OMS Studio Setup doc;
click Okay. Now, repeat the above process and select AN1x from the MIDI
Out drop down menu. This procedure, admittedly silly, ∗always∗ seems to
'wake up' my AN1x to AN1xEdit connection.

I've documented the above (and more) on my AN1x page http://www.jdlx-musique.com/

My set-up: Beige PowerMac G3, OMS 2.3.8 (current version); Opcode
Translator Pro, & VisionDSP (still!)

BTW - I recently picked up another Midiman MIDISport 2x2 USB MIDI
Interface to try out the new Apple v1.4.1 USB drivers and AN1xEdit will
NOT receive SysEx from the AN1x using USB on a Mac :-# I've tried using
OS 9 & 9.04 with various configs of OMS 2.3.7 & 2.3.8 and the Midiman
1.04 & 1.06 drivers w/ Apple USB drivers v1.2, v1.3.5, & v1.4.1 under
various configs using two MIDISport's without success. IMPORTANT NOTE:
The problem does not appear to be an AN1xEdit specific bug because it
also occurs with ASR-X Editor - also dependent on SysEx dumps. SysEx +
USB = no joy :-(

I'd be interesting in hearing from ANY Mac user (hell, any Windows user
for that matter) who has successfully completed a SysEx dump to ANY
instrument specific editor/librarian via USB - freeware or commercial
(like it matters). SysEx Bulk dumps to generic SysEx librarians over
USB do appear to complete but I also know that some bits are lost in the
translation. USB offers no guaranteed delivery - not good for MIDI.
Where oh where is mLAN when you need it? ;-)
