That's an interesting solution. Has the performance improved?
Many people prefer to record to an external drive rather than their boot drive. Have you ever defragmented the external drive? If the performance has improved I'm wondering if the reorg that occurred when you moved the files from one hard drive to the other has provided you a temporary solution.
