I changed a few keys myself because they were broken but they were still
working (besides getting stuck down). Did the key appeared OK with
everything in place when you removed it? I really have no clue but if the
key is still perfect I would just try to put it back properly.

I remember it was annoying to change mine because of the thin metal plates
that are underneath the keys. Those looked very fragile and were hard to
place properly. I just looked at my extra replacement keys, and these little
parts are not even sold with the keys so make sure you don't waste it!
