Subject: re: [AN1x] AN200: Anyone have Blank Patches & Patterns?

Hello!
IMO, if the AN200 is like the others, the factory sounds are stored in a PROM. When you perform a full reset the user memory (static RAM or flash EEPROM∗) is first cleared and immediately after the whole content of the EPROM is stored inside. All this procedure is a part of the synth OS, i don't think you can disable it with a MIDI sysex code....
I see 2 possibilities:

write blank patches (all analog parameters = 0 and all functions, effects disabled) in every user memory location or

if the user memory is a static RAM and not a flash EEPROM remove the internal backup battery, wait for a while, so the stored patches are cleared, then replace the battery. However if the OS performs a memory blank test at turn on and decides to do the "normal" reset without your consent it will not work. This kind of instruction is common to allow playing (with the factory patches) even if the backup battery is down. You cannot save anything, but at least you can play...

The first one is tedious unless you use an editor software, program a blank patch once and store it everywhere.
The second can be tricky and risky if you're not an experienced electronics DIYer... Don't try to do it if you're not one!!

Cheers

∗Electrically Erasable and Programmable Read Only Memory. This kind of IC is programmable and erasable only with a dedicated part of the hardware, but it can survive without any backup battery. If there is no backup battery inside your synth the user memory is an EEPROM.... lost!
