Subject: MIDI IN Trouble

Hi!
I have the AWE64 Gold, since DOS.
The in-OS drivers (no XP drivers around) of MS for the AWE64 ISA are almost
perfect. Even DX stuff and newer Games... no prob, no crackles etc.
And the typical good sound of the Cinch-outfitted Soundcard :-) (sounds like
a solid low-class CD-Player)
Well, so good... but the MIDI IN didn't work.
I can play the Keyboard via PC, send files bulk, controlling etc., but I
cannot use the Keyboard nor can I receive any data from the Keyboard.
Ok. I thought to uncomplete drivers from MS.
Now I have installed a SB Live! PCI, with newer XP drivers installed from
Creative Homepage.
Seldom. The MIDI IN of the SB Live! shows the same function. It cannot
receive data from the Keyboard.
I have tried MIDItester 4.6.231
"Conect out to in, check the cables..."
On the other hand, gameport devices like a Joystick (dig. and analog) work
ok.
Is the gameport somehow blocked internally by XP, for gaming devices like
joysticks etc.?
Thanks for any help.
AN1x is set to "RXCh. 1; TXCh. 1; DeviceNo. all".
Kind Regards,
Daniel Mandiuc
