Greetings: Two simple things to try. First do a FULL factory reset.
Power off, hold down [7] [8] [9] and power on. Select [9] for a full
factory reset. Power off. Power on. It should boot up with RELAX
Co:001 with the Scene-1 and Assign buttons lit.
If not, power off. Hold down [0] [-] [+] and power on. Release the
three keys once the ROM Version is diplayed and you will go into
Diagnostics Mode. If you want to run the full gamit, you will need a
MIDI Cable from the IN to the OUT.
Once in Diagnostics, you can scroll through them with the + - keys
and select one to run. Press the Store Key to start one of the tests.
In particular, you want test #4 SW&LED. Go to #4 with the Plus + key
and press Store. Scene-2 Should be the first LED to light up. Press
it, then Scene-1, press it. It will then go the the Knobs. Press
them. Then SYNC, VCO, etc, then the TEN Key Pad, the Rocker Switches,
then back to the Rotary Knobs, etc.
If you fail here, you most likely have a loose cable. Open it up and
gently pull them all and reseat. Be careful, they usually have a
locking tab on them -- I don't remember.
FYI: If you ever want to know, or name your keys -- use a dry erase
marker for ease of removal. The Keyboard Diagnostic gives you the
name of each key in sequence -- Ha! Ha!
It behooves everyone to at least run the Diagnostics once or twice to
get the hang of it and see if all is well.
Also, the ONLY upgrade is the V1.04 OTP EPROM available from Yamaha
in a previous post. If Yamaha no longer has it, someone may be able
to burn one -- Only if no longer available though. It is well worth
the $37.00 USD. It fixes a lot of things -- A lot of things.
Best of luck;
Peter
