There was one made by a famous company that was a good design and easy to work on. There was just one slight problem: the fuse was after the bridge rectifier. This led to lots of fried transformers. These things run off of 60V square wave AC so it was a special transformer that was quite expensive.</div><div><br class=""></div><div>At this time in the early to mid '80s surge protection was uncommon. We made our own little crowbar devices in-house and installed them on everything that was given a full one year warranty.
