It's a shared WiFi system at my home
(one laptop, four phones, two Rokus). However, my WiFi system uses
both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz for over-the-air transmissions. About half
my devices are using WiFi use 2.4G and half use 5G I'm not sure
how that plays into my results. The nearest house is about 50 feet
away from my house. Is it possible that WiFI radiation from a
nearby house can interfere with my WiFI. That seems plausible to
me.
have been the reason for my observations? I suppose it's

that I may have higher expectations than is possible with WiFi. I
don't know any way of debugging this. Based on my observations, I
believe reliably delivered time accurate MIDI over WiFi is not
possible because of occasional timing errors. Kinda shows the RTP
part isn't really realtime enough for MIDI.
Yes it works well over WiFi. But are you using a private WiFi
for it, or sharing with other stuff ?

Can anybody answer some basic questions about rtpMIDI from
Tobias Erichsen?

Is it supposed to work well over WiFi or is it meant just
for wired
networks? I've had some good and bad results when using it
over WiFi. I
haven't tried using ethernet cables yet. I assume results
will be good.
Errors I've seen using WiFi relate mostly to timing
(plausibly expected
but unwelcomed) and rare instances of silence or gaps (not
expected).
Usually timing sounds about right but not always.
