<div dir="auto"><div>Good and eternal question. Both vintage Tek and modern scopes are always "best" in different ways, but it's useful to hear people's recommendations. A colleague of mine found the Siglent SDS1104X-E 100MHz four-channel oscilloscope interesting (in the 500ish price range), and it would be nice to hear if people say yay or nay before we order a couple of them - and before this is seen as some kind of recommendation.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Personally I've almost never needed more than my analog Tektronix 2236 and 2247A (both with built-in multimeters) give me (in addition to a really high quality audio interface and computer) and it's a joy using them.
