I wouldn't go that far, calling it that *bites tongue* (an Artirua

I know I care more than others about that, heh)<br>
Not that the ones I listed earlier were better, other than the
Roland one, maybe.<br>

As for DIYing a MIDI controller, there's this platform "MIDIbox NG"
that has a readily available open firmware, and you can put
different components together to your liking. Supports encoders,
pots, apparently LED rings, too.<br>
<br>
I now read Kylee Kennedy's message and would have to agree.<br>
Even with a starting point like the MIDIbox stuff, this might be
quite a huge detour from your synth DIY stuff.<br>
<br>
<br>
But anyway, <br>
<br>
Here are some people's projects based on that - does *not* include
motorized faders<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://duckduckgo.com/?q=midibox+ng&t=ironbrowser&iax=videos&ia=videos">https://duckduckgo.com/?q=midibox+ng&t=ironbrowser&iax=videos&ia=videos</a><br>
<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://wiki.midibox.org/doku.php?id=midibox_ng">http://wiki.midibox.org/doku.php?id=midibox_ng</a><br>
<br>
A forum, looks somewhat active<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://midibox.org/forums/forum/46-midibox-ng/">http://midibox.org/forums/forum/46-midibox-ng/</a><br>
<br>
I've never tried any of that stuff.<br>
<br>
It is not a coincidence that most people use reotary encoders on
those things, or rotary pots,<br>
but not faders.<br>
Drilling round holes into front panels is one thing. Getting slits
in there for faders another. I guess that's a job for a CNC router.<br>
The mechanical part is perhaps the one part that makes this all more
expensive than just buying e.g. one of the Behringer things.<br>

<br>
Well, any sort of requirements? Price range?<br>
I remember the Behringer BC...something, they had some with
rotary encoders, and one with faders, but I believe they
were motor faders and hence not very many.<br>
I can't find something like that anymore right now, all I
see is "DAW controllers" which are geared towards, well,
controlling DAWs, and not so cheap either (for a Behringer
product - probably because of motor faders, which are
nice... but low in number):<br>
<br>
Ok, floating around used. Not faders but rotary encoders:<br>

target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">https://www.ebay.de/itm/Behringer-BCR2000-mit-Zaquencer/283808528500</a><br>
<br>
There'd be enough space to put some printed out stickers for
function names under/above each encoder.<br>
<br>
<br>
Depending on how much you are attached to your MIDI keyboard
(in case of swap, e.g. buy one, sell the old), or opposed to
just getting another one:<br>
There are a lot of MIDI keyboards with quite a number of
faders and encoders and / or pots.<br>

Super cheap if it's really only about the knobs, which are
probably not great, but for experimenting...<br>
(and the keys... eat space and are probably crap, but...
since the "lotsa knobs controller box"es I knew aren't a
thing anymore apparently...)<br>
