Also, things like the oxygen sensor and Pulsar chest strap give out a<br>
pulse (the electrical, rectangular kind) for each heartbeat that's<br>
just a 'click' in a speaker, also likely not acceptable. Once you have<br>
a reliable trigger, you can then generate the sound you want, maybe<br>
something like (for one example) a muffled kick drum.<br>

The sound to generate depends on the purpose for this - if it's to<br>
generate SOME sound for every pulse so the person can have a gross but<br>
easily audible idea of their heart reate, it may just as well be a<br>
short tone from a 555 timer.<br>

As for faking it, there's this recording you might could sample (not<br>
saying anything about the legality here), it starts off, oh, what was<br>
the name of that album ... oh yeah, "The Dark Side Of The Moon."<br>
