<p>I think R&D does qualify, you could argue that Bob Moog's early work was R&D for what became his products in later years.<br />It's still synths, and it's still DIY. At some point he became a business, but HE himself was still doing synth DIY.</p>
<p>I think a theramin is as valid as any other simple synth. Or are we now going down the rabbit hole of defining what is and isn't a synth?</p>
<p>It can become a slippery slope very quickly IMHO.</p>

I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of people!<br />Bridechamber, Synthcube, Elby and Thonk should be mentioned as vendors who fueled the beginning of the Kit era.... Befaco, Erica, Music Thing, Ferquency Central , Non Linear CIrcuits are companies dedicated to the cause. etc.....</div>
