If that's the case, I'd probably import the bitmap into inkscape,
vectorize it, <br>
clean up the vector image, import into kicad, scale it, add drilling
info and export gerber files<br>
Editing to accommodate for changes in footprints could either be
done in inkscape, <br>
or you could remove the parts that would need to be changed, <br>
and manually add those footprints and traces back using the kicad
features.<br>

However, this is assuming it is an absolute necessity to use the
preexisting board design, <br>
it might be easier to reproduce the schema in kicad, to create a new
board layout <br>
and finally to just order that design - the degree to which it is
inspired by the original would be up to you<br>
