Problem is, if it were the other way around, it would instead<br>
bite you when you want to send private replies.<br>

Arguably, the fault is not in the mailing list but in the mail<br>
client. Mine has two functions : [r] to reply to the sender and<br>
[L] to reply to the list. Problem solved.<br>
