Despite it's faults, MIDI has been hugely successful and it is cheap and relatively simple to implement. I<br>
like that I can hook up my early 80s JX3P to the latest MIDI gear and it will just work (all notes off aside).<br>
I can't say the same for most computer equipment of that vintage.<br>
