<p>Hi,</p>
<p>Basically you use a standard pin header on the board. By standard
I mean 0.1" spacing dual row headers. You do have to make sure you
don't get one with ling pins. The standard pin length is about
0.32"</p>
<p>You can find a crimp tool here:</p>
<p><a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://www.vellemanstore.com/en/idc-crimping-tool?utm_source=google_shopping&gclid=CjwKCAjwrO_MBRBxEiwAYJnDLGgRiDhuYUCiWLdl9jc_yEKhiv1inD9h6rw0Ce0fozfgG_8Wgl21-RoChgoQAvD_BwE">https://www.vellemanstore.com/en/idc-crimping-tool?utm_source=google_shopping&gclid=CjwKCAjwrO_MBRBxEiwAYJnDLGgRiDhuYUCiWLdl9jc_yEKhiv1inD9h6rw0Ce0fozfgG_8Wgl21-RoChgoQAvD_BwE</a></p>
<p>Its the one I use and it works okay. The yellow spacer likes to
pop out but some double-faced tape fixed that right up. You can
also find the same tool on eBay. Search for "IDC Crimp".</p>
<p>Ribbon connectors are always 2 row so the pin count is always
even. They start at 6 pins and go up. The ribbon cable comes in
various sizes and can be trimmed down by simply pulling off the
unwanted wired. So you can get bigger wire and make it the size
you need. I always use the grey ribbon with a red stripe that
denotes pin 1. <br>
</p>
<p>Various surplus houses on the internet often have connectors and
wire: MPJA, All Tronics, All Electronics, BG Micro, etc.</p>
<p>I hope that helps.</p>

<div>I prototype circuits on standard blank PCB - but have
never learned very much about organized fabrication. I would
like to come up with a simple solution to use 10-pin ribbon
wire to connect boards together. I am very uncertain about
the standard sizes, terminology, and best practices, though.
Would people here be willing to share some of their
methods? </div>
