<div>In general, audio taper pots only approximate an exponential curve using two different linear areas in the track, see e.g. http://www.resistorguide.com/potentiometer-taper/</div>

<div>If the pot travel is limited to, say, 60 degrees, you can mount it so the wiper stays on the higher-resistance area so you can use most of the pot's resistance range.</div>
