It would be awesome to have well defined new physical interface, but since it stays like that over 30 years now, noone would dare to make something incompatible with older units. I always dreamt about MIDI over light, using the same stuff as SPDIF. The plastic lightpipes are dirt cheap, TX/RX modules are no fortune either. And if some manufacturer would design DIN socket wih center hole for optical plug, imagine possibilities! Something like XLR/TRS combos.<br></blockquote><div><br></div><div><br></div></div></div></div>
