Has anyone out there come across a gate/trigger
sequencer design that can control multiple tracks like the TR808? With a switch
so you can switch between different instruments and change steps on the fly? The
TR808 sequencer has alot of obsolete parts. Has anyone seen a more modern
version of this.

Obviously Midi would be the sensible choice but you
cant beat the 808 sequencer for changing patterns quickly.

I have built Ray Wilsons sequencer and also Ken
Stones step sequencer - but it would be great if you could minimise the ammount
of step switches - have 16 switches but be able to switch between the
instuments.

or when midi arrived did people stop developing
this design?
