if you use a 555, use the cmos version or it will create mega-noise all over the damn place. Last thing you want is hear are your VCOs when you're not patched into them!<BR>

Personally, I don't care for 555 based VCO circuits. There's a bunch of issues there for me with them. i think you'd be off with an op amp or discrete component engine -- you'll be happier with that. But there are many options for op amps which exceed the performance of the 741 nowadays, and they are cheap as hell. A TLO74 is quad (four op amps internally) and will set you back 30 some-odd cents. There are also more high end (much more expensive) op amps as well, but you may find the TLO's are gonna work for you.<BR>
