I've been looking into to this kind of thing as well.  I'd like to
make some kind of battery pack to power the 808 clone I'm working
on.  Ideally I'd like to use rechargeable battery packs like you
can get from mouser, but am unsure to how much power will be needed for
a synth.  It was my understanding that switched power supplies
