the pcb, component leads, and solder with isopropyl alcohol just before
soldering to remove any surface contaminants, as well as after soldering to
remove flux. The flux is not intended to be a general cleaning agent, it is to
remove any oxides present at the time of soldering, most of which is due
to the heating of the metals. Also that I should cut the solder with wire
cutters, rather than just pulling/bending it to break off pieces, as this
stretches the solder and leaves sections without
flux.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></P>
