Well in that case, why not just not even bother with the patch cables?
Just run it on a platform powerful enough to run all your modules at once, and handle all the patching "virtually" in software. Instead of having a bunch of physical interfaces and all the power consumption and switching hash that entails, just have some sort of programming interface where you can stack up modules in your synth and then define connections between them.
Aw wait, that's a Nord Lead, isn't it...?
